PRAWA facilitated the release of another 30 inmates including 4 juveniles

On Thursday 13th July 2023, the Chief Judge of Lagos State Hon Justice Kazeem Alogba in his effort to decongest the custodial centers in line with extant laws granted amnesty to 30 inmates.

During the exercise, the Deputy Controller Lagos State Correctional Service decried the ugly situation of the Lagos State Custodial center, the facility built for 1500 capacity is currently accommodating 9000 inmates.

About 30 inmates including 4 juveniles were successfully granted pardon. Worthy of note is that many civil society organizations were present and made efforts to assist the released inmates reintegrate with their families and the society. Pertinently, PRAWA provided the inmates with some money to cushion their transport cost to their various homes.

The released were also provided the opportunity to benefit from the PRAWA/OSIWA ongoing Rehabilitation Program.
