NPF-Senior-Officers-TrainingThe Senior Management staff of the Nigerian Police Force Enugu State Command gathered at Bridge Waters Hotels Enugu on Wednesday 13th February, 2013 to share knowledge on the role of senior management personnel in the execution and administration of police investigations. This meeting of the police heavy peeps and top brass involved over 25 senior officers from the criminal investigation, legal, crime records and administration departments of the command.
The training was part of the series of training being designed and delivered to the ranks and file of Nigerian Police Force in the ‘Speeding-Up Criminal Justice System in Enugu State Project’ under the management of PRAWA an support of Justice for All J4A Programmes of DFID.
It will be recalled that the said project piloting in Enugu State Nigeria has six components namely:

  • Speeding-up effective criminal investigations.
  • Speeding-up the prosecution process.
  • Speeding-up court trial process.
  • Enhancing transportation of remand prisoners to court.
  • Improving the attendance rate of witnesses in criminal cases.
  • Enhancing legal representation for remand prisoners.

The workshop for the Police Senior Management, Administration Officers and Department Heads on their respective roles in the police chain of duties as it concern investigation and prosecution of crime is under the ‘Speeding-Up effective criminal investigation’ component of the project.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Mr. Philip Ogbadu urged the participants to take the best out of the workshop adding that this is such a golden opportunity for all the NPF staff to improve their knowledge of police investigation and administration. He said that his command is happy at the competence of the consultants PRAWA and J4A have put on this assignment.
